Evaluation Comments for Ratcliff S

  1. This is a tough course, but incredibly interesting.
  2. Ratcliff is by far the most organized professor I have had at Midd, and his lectures are thorough. The homework is also very valuable, do it all and anything he recommends as a great way to start studying. His test are very fair, but expect to take all two hours for the tests. All in all a great class, and I came away with a great understanding of the material.
  3. Ratcliff does a great job presenting the material, but get ready to work hard.
  4. Be ready to focus for the lectures. Ratcliff moves very quickly through the content.
  5. Approaching Ratcliff is like approaching the God of the Old Testament - it may be terrifying, but if you do it with humility and patience, you may be rewarded. His lectures are hilarious, and he is ruthlessly organized. Go to class and take notes. If you can do everything on the homework, you will be fine on the tests - though he demands a lot of students, Ratcliff is also almost perfectly fair. I think the premise of this class is flawed, and they would be better off requiring more math classes for the major, but Ratcliff does as good a job presenting all the information as can be expected of anyone.
