Evaluation Comments for Huddleston, J.

  1. a good class, maybe, if you've never taken photography before... i was frustrated by the lack of creative atmosphere. critiques get old fast when people's photos are clearly not made with much effort. huddleston's also not big on rules/guidelines. (he is extremely lax, so if you are self-motivated and very creative, this might be a good class-- but i was not challenged enough by it.)
  2. If you want to take photography at middlebury, your options are very limited. Huddlestons class is one of few offered - and as far as photo classes go its very mediocre. It is, however, a photo class - so if thats enough for you than take it. Huddleston is fair and won't hammer you during the semester. Critiques are very long and very boring especially when students bring in bad work that you need to talk about. I really like photo - so I liked the class, but Huddleston didn't do too much to make this anything special. It is a casual class - work as you go with a presentation and a final project - so you likely wont be over burdened with work.
