Evaluation Comments for Price

  1. Price encouraged students to share how they form deep connections with the text through written and verbal means. His thoughtful selection of books + order in which he taught them = why the course had been such a great journey (Flaubert, Zola, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Kafka, Camus, Appelfeld). Understanding about absences; organised; very humorous. There are students who submit one-page reflection assignments, double-spaced, and get good grades for the course. Most of the time I submit three-page reflections, without spacing, simply because I found the class material provoking, and I enjoy comparing two to three novels in one reflection. The class is extremely flexible, and Professor Price is genuinely interested in knowing how you relate to the text. I often receive long feedbacks from him, and there was this time when he wrote: "You need not exert yourself so spectacularly!" - that was when I realised I'm the only person submitting such elaborate reading reflection assignments, and he was worried that I might be spending too much time on his course. Honest, forthcoming and extremely kind. Take a course with Professor Price!
  2. This course was a waste of time. We read some good books, but that's essentially all the course was. There was almost no work - we wrote two 2 page papers and had 3 reading comprehension quizzes. The lectures were mildly entertaining but completely uninformative. Going to class was just an exercise in plot summary. Sure take this if you want a slacker class, but don't expect to learn anything. Prof Price is a nice guy, but I'm sure you could find better things to waste your money on.
  3. This class was amazing. Professor Price is so fascinating to listen to and the books we read were very interesting. I would recommend this class anyday.
  4. if you love literature, then this is a great class. it is wonderful to listen to prof. price's lectures; he is a charming and talented lecturer, but an entire semester of his class can get a little tedious. however, there is not a lot of work in the class and it's an easy A. You can do as much or as little as you decide to do, so if you love the books this is a great class to just get to read in whithout having to rip the books apart with overanalysis!
  5. In short: one paper and no final exam. Reading quizzes are easy and no preparation is necessary for classes. Price lectures the whole time and is very forgetful by nature. Take this calss if you want an easy A.
  6. If you do all the reading it is extremely time-consuming; however, the readings are (almost) all great. Otherwise, lectures are interesting sheerly because Price is good with words and fairly engaging. There is very little writing. Great literature.
  7. This class is a GEM. lectures are extremely interesting. books were great, and Price is the man. On top of that, grading was very lax.
  8. Mr. Price is a really guy and he introduces very interesting points about the books. The books we read were very interesting and weird and made me think about the world and people. This person also suggested: Sometimes lectures were a little boring, he likes to talk a lot, but all in all it was very interesting. I would highly recommemned the professor and the class to anyone interested in reading great novels.
  9. Professor Price absolutely makes this class. He's smart, funny, and oh-so-entertaining. I appreciate the literature we've read all the more because he so clearly appreciates it. I'm not sure this course will be offered again soon, but I'm sure any other class with Professor Price will be just as fulfilling. This person also suggested: Get those papers graded and returned, Mr. Price! This is my only complaint.
