Evaluation Comments for Faraone, C.

  1. First of all, Cheryl is INCREDIBLY disorganized and gave us the most convoluted syllabus I have seen in my entire life. Her assignments are not clearly explained and she often tells you to refer to the syllabus when you didnt understand it in the first place. In other words, she can be incredibly frustrating to work with because she has great difficulty explaining things verbally. However, she is very good at conveying things physically by giving us examples of vignettes or something similar. So once you get past the point where you want her words to make sense and start trying to use your right brain to listen to her very right-brain form of communication you can learn a lot. She will also throw you into directing scenes without anyone feeling very prepared to do so. You have to wing it, but don't be afraid to be assertive right off the bat. It will save you time, trouble and angst. Anyway, take this class only if you really are interested in directing or have to for the major. If you are looking for a fun worthwhile theater class do creative process, playwriting or history of western dress.
  2. Cheryl takes some getting used to- but she is an extremely talented and great person when you get to know her. This class is tough if there are too many people in it, but it's worth taking en route to Directing II, which was even better. Plus, it's a lot of fun.
  3. Cheryl Faraone is great
  4. Personally, I found Cheryl to be disrespectful, narrow-minded and childish. Part of the ineffectiveness of the course when I took it was the class size, which isn't her fault by any means, but I found that her attitude did not encourage me in the least to try my hardest. What little was actually taught is better learned with some hands-on experience.
