Evaluation Comments for Velez

  1. Professor Velez was a really great professor. A REALLY nice guy and very approachable. All the topics covered in the course are really interesting and appealing to learn about. The work load was not bad at all - there is a certain amount of reading for each discussion, but since you have a whole week to do it its not bad. Also, you dont really even have to do most of the readings since of the 6 discussion topics, you only have assignments (ie. debate, paper) for 2 of them, so you really only have to throughly read for those two topics. He has a great sense of humor and really treats the class like another family. He invited us over for chinese food to his house and bought cookies for the class to decorate:). overall was a great class and great atmosphere.
  2. Velez is such a great professor - funny, nice, understanding guy but grades pretty hard on papers. His class discussions are always so interesting and engaging -- definitely take this if you are interested in controversial issues like medical marijuana, alcoholism, ADD/ADHD, etc. Velez is an amazzzzing prof.
  3. Velez is awesome - engaging, fun, intelligent, has a great sense of humor, and fosters great discussion. If you enjoy psychology and certain moral issues pertaining to legalization of drugs, lowering of drinking age etc., this is the class for you
