  4. morrison was a much better teacher than waldron (even though he was more passionate, she was much more focused and organized). the subject matter was interesting and important overall, a little dry at times, but straightforward. the readings were not that long, not many papers, and easy discussions. solid intro class.
  5. Interesting but confusing at times. Morrison is a fantastic discussion leader, especially in clarifying topics from lecture.
  6. This class has so much reading that oftentimes I found myself just working to get the reading done, rather than actually internalizing the concepts. Still this is a great class if you're looking for a big umbrella class on East Asian religions. Coming into this class I honestly didn't know anything at all about East Asian religions; coming out of the class I can say that I feel a lot more comfortable discussing East Asian religions because of the breadth of concepts we learned about in class. Professor Morrison is very particular, proper, and formal and it definitely shows in her grading and teaching styles.
  7. Morrison is a much better professor than Waldron. She clarifies everything he says in her discussion section and lectures in a clear, organized way. Her grading, however, was not always clear.
  8. Professor Morrison is definitely a great discussion leader and clarifier, so make sure you get her for the discussion section. This class is a great way to get a distribution requirement out of the way, not to mention that the material was pretty interesting. There is not a lot of work- just keep up with the readings and you should have no problems. Also the standards for tests and assignments are very clear and not too difficult if you pay attention.
  9. This course is ok, but it's such a broad overview of so many religions that it's hard to feel like you're learning about any of them in any depth. What we learned was interesting, but we did a different tradition and its texts pretty much every week, and all the sanskrit and chinese terms got confusing very fast. The class is a very large lecture, about 80 people, with discussion sections. And a lot of reading. Both professors do a good job, especially explaining and summarizing a large amount of difficult material, but I think I'd rather take a class with either one of them that's focused on one of the traditions covered rather than all of them. If you don't know anything about Asian religions and want a general overview, this course is useful, but if you want to really understand any of them, take one of the more narrowly focused classes.
  10. Easiest B in the world, anything more than that you have to work
