Evaluation Comments for Armanios, F

  1. Although this is a very interesting topic, the course material was repetitive, making the class a little dry. The readings are everything, so if you slack off on them, you will learn very little. When it comes to papers, Professor Armanios is extremely helpful, but also a very tough grader.
  2. Take this class if you're interested at all in the Middle East - it really opens your eyes to what most are unfamiliar with about the region. There's also a sociological aspect to the class, too, which I thought made it very interesting. Armanios is fantastic and is there to help your writing improve if you seek her out. I would definitely take this class again, and can't wait to participate in more discussions facilitated by Febe. Oh, and the reading is really interesting... and that's what each class discussion almost completely relies on.
  3. The class was very interesting and covered a lot of information about the contemporary middle east that we don't typically think of like music, film, journalism etc. It doesn't cover the middle east conflicts as much as you might think. Professor Armanios is great at leading discussions - fun and very smart - but she is also a very hard grader. Be prepared to start off with low grades and see them improve over the course of a semester.
