  3. Overall, this course was valuable because it presented a clear summary of Medieval and Gothic art. However, the course ended up to have a much more demanding work load than I had suspected. For each class we would have to read a scholarly article around 20 pages long and turn in reading notes or a response paper on the article. On top of bi-weekly assignments, there are two extensive papers - one 6-7 pg comparison and one 10-12 page research paper. The midterm was not difficult and very easy to prepare for, and the take home final ended up being over 10 pages of written work. Overall, the class was rewarding but the workload was heavy. Garrison is a thorough professor and specializes in this material, making it very useful to meet with her about questions and concerns.
