  2. I took Survey II as a requirement for the HARC major. Hoving is a good professor and a very good lecturer. If you are taking the class for your major or just out of interest you will learn a lot. There is a lot of reading but you don't necessarily have to do it. Hoving's lectures cover everything that is in the text book, the book just goes into more detail. We had two papers, a mid term, and a final in addition to bi-weekly quizzes. None of the above are too bad, they just require some studying. Hoving can be a harsh grader but she will explain what is going on if you approach her. Overall a very good class, I'm glad I took it.
  3. Professor Hoving is an incredible lecturer. She is so knowledgable and she commands respect. She is also a published author, which adds to her already stellar reputation as a teacher. She is a bit intimidating and not very friendly outside of the classroom--often, it seems as though it is painful for her to lead discussions. Other than that, I would definately recommend this class to be introduced to these masterpeice/seminal works of art history, taught by an equally amazing professor. BTW--Her grading is very fair if you work hard.
