  10. If u do more than half the work and talk in discussion, it is a very easy A. Chaplin is great and one of my favorite profs here at midd
  11. Professor Chaplin is very knowledgeable and passionate about Roman History. She wants you to succeed, so she is always there to help. Participation in discussions is very important. The tests are very straightforward, as are the papers.
  12. This class was a lot of fun, but was not very challenging. The professor's sense of humor is great, but incredibly dry.
  13. Ms. Chaplin is a very nice professor, but the class was kind of boring if you're not really passionate about Roman history. It's easy enough to pass the class. Just read and participate in discussions.
  14. Chaplin may be the nicest lady I have ever met and is always available for extra help. That being said, be aware that this class is difficult and the two exams require a lot of memorizing in addition to a thorough understanding on concepts
  15. Professor chaplin is the worst. she appears very nice and what not but she grades so hard. I had a significant background in classics yet it didn't help at all. she really only liked/gave good grades to the jocks who flirted with her. discussions were 25% of the grade, and she seemed to prefer quantity over quality, participate at least four times per discussion. the exams weren't bad (but very long) if you had done all the reading, there were quote ids and on the final we had to memorize about 50 dates. do not take this class, it killed my gpa
  16. Ms. Chaplin is one of my favorite professors. Her lectures are incredibly organized and very interesting. Discussion sections are also always interesting. She can also be funny in class. There can be a lot of reading for this class but you don't have to do it all to contribute to discussions. Tests can be difficult, but she grades fairly (when almost all of the class got a question wrong, she counted it as extra credit).
  17. Chaplin knows everything, so don't expect to slack off and pull out an A-/B+. Nonetheless, she's absolutely fascinating, and teaches her class in a manner that allows students to throw around their own opinions without fear of criticism.
  18. Professor Chaplin is a wonderful person and professor. Her lectures are well-organized and interesting and discussions (which count for 15% of your final grade) are open-ended conversations about anything relating to the material. Her tests are straightforward rote memorization. She grades both tests and papers fairly easily. If you know the material she tells you to know, you'll get an A.
