Evaluation Comments for Barbaud-McWilliams, M.

  1. She is just the cutest and absolutely adores teaching french.
  2. Loved this class. The books were interesting, reading assignments not too long. Three papers and two tests graded not too harshly. I really liked Prof McWilliams, she helped tremendously in explaining the text, whenever anyone had difficulty comprehending, and she took class time to explain. I would definitely take another class with her.
  3. I had never read French lit before, and I felt that this class was a good start because we started w/poetry and eased into novels. I've definitely improved drastically in reading comprehension and speed.
  4. The readings were really good, and the professor was cheerful, energetic and friendly. The midterm and final are easy if you know the literature. I didn't feel my oral skills (coming out of 205) were quite up to the level of the discussions, as we had students who were practically native french speakers and kids who had taken french for many years. McWilliams grades fairly, and focuses on your ideas more than your french skills which was nice, yet in discussions she sometimes shuts down your ideas if she has different views. All in all a good class and a good professor.
  5. Great course overall. I would only recommend it to freshman with confidence in their speaking.oral abilities in French. It's a little intimidating otherwise.
