  2. Juana is amazing. She is so nice and very smart and has the most beautiful spanish accent ever. Always available for help and teaches you a lot! It's a great class b.c of her.
  3. A very solid section of 220. Juana is great. She makes things personal and relevant and tries to really teach this course as a TRANSITION between the grammar stuff and meaningful literature stuff. She is very sweet and when she does have to talk grammar, she explains things well and in creative ways. The class is not too hard either as she really wants everyone to do well, but I felt I learned a lot anyway, even though I didn't have to work that hard for it. She really emphasizes conversation in class and a lot of writing (lots of improvement over the semester). Soldados de Salamina was challenging, but she might change it next year.
  4. I thought this class improved my Spanish oral and written schools a lot more than 210 because Juana fostered a very fun atmosphere in which everyone wanted to participate. I'd highly recommend taking a class with her.
  5. I really liked this class. Juana is a really amzing progessor and she makes all of the lectures really interesting. The class focuses on the study of the Spanish Civil War which can get incredibly boring at times. The novel for this class, Soldados de Salamina is kind of difficult and not very interesting. Despite some uninteresting aspects Juana does her best to make it more interesting by initiating discussions about controversial and very relevant topics. Juana is very friendly and always available for help. I don't know if I would reccommend this class because of the boring subject matter, but I would definitely reccomend taking a class with Juana.
  6. I love Juana, she has been my favorite Spanish professor at Midd thus far. I liked the movie screenings (all centered on the Spanish Civil War), and the way there was a theme to unify the course. The exams weren't difficult and the essays allowed for a lot of creativity. I enjoyed this course.
  7. Gamero de Coca is the sweetest profesora EVER. She gave me extra time on a few resenas when I was busy with other midterms. The papers we wrote really helped expand my use of the language, although the workbook work wasn't very effective. Take this course!!!
  8. If you're coming off high school Spanish IV or similar level, you'll do fine in this class. Gamero De Coca is a GREAT professor, and has a VERY nice structure for the class. We watched (and reviewed) three movies,, wrote three ~5 page writing assignments (2 creative, 1 formal),, and took four exams. No final given. She is very flexible and understanding. Highly recommended. But WATCH OUT she uses the vosotros form!
  9. Juana is a lovely lady. Her tests are easy if you come to class, as are her papers. Discussions were entertaining and involved, making class always enjoyable. The information is as boring as that of any grammar-based spanish class, but such is Middlebury.
  10. Juana is the best of any Spanish professor that I have had at Middlebury. This class requires lots of work that you have to do for each class period, but she is a relatively easy grader so if you do the work you should get a good grade. She emphasizes speaking a lot which is very helpful.
  11. She was the most amazing spanish teacher that I have had a midd. She has so much energy and is not an old dotey professor like most of the others in the Spanish Department. There is a lot of writing in the class, but she is so fair and very helpful!
