  1. So the class is definitely hard, and being thrown into reading about Italian facism is kind of a shock after the skits of beginning Italian. Skubi' a great teacher though- extremely energetic, caring, encouraging, very willing to great lengths to help you out. He can be intimidating for some people, as you definitely have to be on your toes during discussions. The information is hard and dense, but I think it's really useful in the context of learning about Italy and the culture. It seems to be really preparing you for going abroad, in addition to teaching you better oral and writing skills.

  3. This class is HARD!!! If you've taken all year of beginning Italian, then you get thrown into this class where you have to read about, write about, and discuss Italian history, politics, economics, etc etc etc. At the end of the class there are a few chapters on things like music and mozzarella to liven it up a bit, but most of it is heavy stuff that's hard to talk about and learn about even in English. Skubi is a great guy and a very good professor, but he's very energetic and a tough grader. The discussions are usually hard to follow - you have to be on your toes the whole time. The class forces you to learn more Italian and more about Italy, but it's almost not worth it because it's so hard.
