  3. As with all philosophical classes, this class was interesting. Nevertheless, Professor Bates wasn't necessary the most colorful professor and this lead to a very monotonous class atmosphere, which tends to put you to sleep. Professor Bates voice also allows your mind to roam while he is lecturing. Especially from the primary sources, the readings were really dense and hard to grasp. Professor Bates did attempt to decipher it all, but not very captivatingly. He is a smart man, but I wouldn't recommend this class.
