Evaluation Comments for Chavez R

  1. Ricardo is incredibly talented and is very interesting to listen to in lecture. I really enjoyed this class and I highly recommend it. There are a lot of writing assignments but Ricardo is a very fair grader and the assignments are somewhat enjoyable considering that it was my first time being asked to write creative pieces in Spanish. I would highly recommend this class!
  2. Not only is Ricardo relaxed and fun, but he's super interesting to listen to. Because he's a writer (he's published like over 20 books, some of them for children) and not the normal PHD lit professor, he teaches from a refreshing and creative point of view. He's insightful in a really "human" way, and doesn't have the too-focused and often bland analysis of normal lit professors. Plus he's just an awesome guy.
  3. Ricardo is awesome. He is interested in hearing every students ideas and creates and extremely friendly classroom environment. There are a couple papers and exams that are very open ended -- you can write about whatever interests you. He is also an extremely fair grader. If you are taking SPAN 300, take it with Ricardo.
  4. Ricardo was great and approached everything in a very interesting and exciting context. The texts we read were much more interesting when he demonstrated the social, political, and economic implications and the historical context.
  5. For the class, Ricardo does a great job at teaching it. However for a person that isn't that interested in literature in Englilsh, taking a literature class in spanish was a daily struggle. I just found the material boring. It was an easy class even if you don't always finish the readings though.
