Evaluation Comments for Veguez

  1. Veguez is a funny guy, but I didn't care for him as a teacher. We never really spent much time actually discussing the things we read. I guess my speaking ability did improve slightly because we spent a lot of time talking. Veguez is funny and definitely available for help outside of class. It's clear that he cares about teaching but he grades papers ridiculously harshly. I didn't really care for this class. I'd recommend taking it with a different professor if possible.
  2. This class is exactly what it is titled: a literature class in Spanish. You cover poems, plays, and literature. Professor Veguez is very helpful when you ask for help. I found the class boring overall, but Veguez is working to improve it.
  3. Course was a good overview of Spanish lit. For me the biggest problem was that everyone in the class was at very different levels of Spanish. Not the Prof's fault, of course. He is a tough grader, but over the course of the semester it becomes much clearer what he wants. Unlike other 300 professors, he starts with the poetry unit, which is by far the hardest (although least work-intensive), which can be pretty dispiriting. Veguez's strength is his ability to lead class discussion.
  4. Veguez knows his stuff. Class was sometimes a little boring. But the stories were great.
  5. This class is interesting, but the essay grades were harsh. daily comments were a bit excessive, too. beware the fine print in this class!
  6. 300 can be easier that with Veguez, though he does teach a good class. It took me 1/2 the semester to really figure out what he wanted and he's REALLY hard on the essays. However, he's a great and interesting guy and the material he picks is very interesting and fun to read.
  7. veguez is really into what hes teaching so that made the class pretty interesting... sometimes it was a little boring when we started student presentations, but not bad
  8. Professor Veguez is good at leading a class discussion, but has unreasonable expectations for essays at this level. Furthermore, if you have studied the canon of Spanish literature before, this class is sort of a waste of your time, since it only re-covers that same ground.
  9. While I loved Professor Veguez, this class wasn't the most fascinating. THough some of the material covered was interesting and fun to investigate, the material isn't the most integral to any student's spanish academic endeavors. I love Veguez; he is a kind and intelligent man, though he may be a bit more demanding than other professors in the department.
  10. Professor Veguez is a demanding professor, but he is fair and makes the class interesting. He speaks slowly and clearly, and will explain any words that you don't understand. He is very helpful during office hours. It is a difficult course, but your Spanish reading, writing, and analysis will improve a lot.
  11. The people in the class really weren't into the subject, and that made it difficult. Also, the professor was very much into the subject and didn't realize that most of the class wasn't--he just moved right along with the material without making it interesting for us.
  12. This man is not my favorite professor ever. Do not take this class unless you have to!!!
