Evaluation Comments for Butler, J.

  1. My opinion of Jim Butler oscillated constantly during the semester--sometimes I hated his intensity and his blunt honesty and sometimes I thought he was the only good art teacher I've ever had. He's an eccentric dude, very particular about how things should be done, but once you get over that you realize that with him RULES ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN and really, just do whatever you want. This is a fun class and really dynamic. Different from the other studio art classes I've taken at Midd.
  2. awesome class, but what else can you say when you get to paint and it counts as homework. It was great that they provided paint and canvas and stretchers for second semester (abstract).
  3. abstract painting with Jim was awesome! he got us to loosen up with some fun exercises and we ended up making a ton of work
  4. Jim is amazing. For the adventurous only. Must be able to accept criticism because it is good criticism.
  5. AMAZING - very artistically challenging and thought provoking.
