Evaluation Comments for Baldridge, C

  1. Solid intro level english course. The other reviewer described it well- first half of the semester is poetry, second is plays and novels. I found the first half a lot more interesting, because we discussed 1-3 poems each day then moved on. The second half got a bit boring since we had to focus on the same work for a week. Baldridge is charismatic, a fair grader, and great at facilitating discussion. Three ~4 page papers count for 15% each, final paper (5-6 pages) for 20%, participation 20%, editing others' papers 15%.
  2. I enjoyed this class very much. The reading list was fantastic, and the pace of the class was very relaxed. Baldridge is a nice guy and made class discussions interesting. For the first half of the semester we had to read only three poems for each class. The second half of the semester we read one novel or play a week. There were just four four page papers, and I thought the grading was lenient. If you need a CW or have to take the class for the English minor or major I recommend taking it with Baldridge.
