  7. Professor Geisler is one of the VPs of Midd, but you would never know it because he is totally committed to teaching-and is a fantastic teacher. This course covered very interesting material (although some kids just didn't like the subject) and projects/papers were independent and research-focused. About average workload for a FYS. Can't praise Geisler enough.
  8. Prof. Geisler's seminar is great for transitioning into college. I learned how you can't only work hard, but you have to work intelligently after having to completely rewrite an eight page paper because my two sentence thesis was flawed. Prof. Geisler is my favorite prof. at Midd, he is such a friendly guy. He expects a lot from first-years, but it really pushes you to become a better writer and a better student. He also brought in candy and snacks from time to time :)
  9. Professor Geisler is a great guy, and the course is very fascinating. I found myself a bit overwhelmed in the readings and some of the papers, but the course is absolutely worth it. Definitely my favorite course so far I've taken at Middlebury. The atmosphere was absolutely fun and I loved being with all of my classmates. Get ready to explore nationalism in a way you've never imagined.
  10. I found this course to be a very good introduction to college-level critical analysis. I would not recommend it if you have no interest or background in history, though, since Professor Geisler is a very very smart man and sometimes assumes that others have a larger base in historical knowledge than they actually do.
