Evaluation Comments for Morrison E

  1. Professor Morrison often tries to nail down a lot of Taoism when that is precisely the opposite of what the Tao is meant to be. Regardless, she teaches the material well and gives a very comprehensive picture of the progression Taoism has undergone, specifically in the context of evolving Confucianism and Buddhism. I recommend it if you'r einterested in Eastern Religions at all.
  2. Professor Morrison clearly knows a lot, but she isn't a great lecturer. Unless you can make the material come alive for yourself (which can be challenging with Taoism) I wouldn't take this class. If you have a special interest / past experience with Taoism, her expertise will be valuable, and it may be worth sweating out the dry lectures.
