Evaluation Comments for Morsman, A.

  1. This was probably one of my favorite classes at Midd. It made me regret that I'm not a history major. This class was co-taught by Amy Morsman and Kathryn Morse (it got confusing) and they were both brilliant. Lecture was interesting with lots of outlines and visuals, the reading was great and the discussion really deepened my knowledge of the material. In addition to political themes, the class coveres economic and social themes with a big focus on women's rights in every stage of US history. Overall, it was an excellent class with one or two papers that were easy enough to write and fair exams.
  2. Professor Morsman is one of the best teachers I have ever had or listened to. She is undoubtedly one of the best lecturers I have come across. She conveys information in an interesting, intense, and interactive manner. I have never seen an class where students were more at attention. The best part of having Professor Morsman was being in her discussion section. She was able to connect with us and was visibly interested in us as individuals, not just as students. She kept discussion lively and interesting. Despite the fact that she was a rather difficult grader, I would jump at the chance to be in more classes with her in the future.
  3. The overall class is very easy. Lectures are very thorough, they post lectures online, so you dont even need to go to class all the time. Definitely go to the discussions. Have some knowledge of the reading, but its really not necessary to exhaust yourself thoroughly doing all of the reading. As long as you know what youre talking about and have something to say youll be fine. The college writing section was a bit turbo. Morsman is very demanding with the amount of writing she makes you do, and is kind of a tough grader. Shes really helpful and accessible though, and she does help improve your writing. Id definitely reccommend this course, but if youre interested in taking an "easy" college writing class, dont take it with Morsman.
