Evaluation Comments for Bain

  1. Such a gem. Take this class with Bain; he is helpful and very compassionate. Wasn't a "joke class" but wasn't by any means tough. If you have any interest in writing, this class develops you through the workshops. All in all, one of the best classes i've taken at Midd.
  2. Bain is a wonderful, engaging professor that clearly knows his fair share about creative writing. This course was interesting in that we didn't really learn anything concretely. However it was valuable to practice writing and gather the opinions of fellow students. Really excellent class
  3. Very chill class. Bain focuses on writing through actually writing, not silly brainstorming diagrams, minute papers, or whatever else you may have seen in your highschool english class. He creates a very laid-back, pleasant atmosphere and gives good if brief comments on your work. Does a good job of encouraging discussion. Other students can be a little intense, but their comments are very thoughtful. A fun, pretty easy and worthwhile class.
  4. The reading is fun and interesting and you cover a lot of stuff. Bain is a really sweet guy and has some good advice about writing.
  5. amazing! bain is such a great guy and the readings are really inspiring. the other kids in my class were great too--we were like a family.
  6. Best class at Midd so far, Bain is a great guy and the rest of the class becomes very close in the process of workshopping!
  7. Bain is absolutely amazing. He is really interesting and friendly. The class is structured so you really get to know everyone - we were all so close by the end we organized a reunion!! It's a lot of work if you really care about your writing and are a perfectionist - you get out of the class as much as you put in. It's a fun class with a great atmosphere and a fantastic professor.
  8. Professor Bain is the best! The classroom environment was very fun and laid back and the readings were all wonderful. Workshopping 3 fellow classmates' papers for every class gets a bit tiresome by the end of the semester, but it is worth it for the comments you get on your own work.
  9. this is a great class both for aspiring writers and for frustrated artists who want to try their hand at writing. The course really does touch on all three--poetry, fiction and non-fiction for equal amounts of time so it's a nice intro course to try it all. Not a difficult course to do well in, but if you put the work into it, you can get a lot out of it.
  10. Awesome class!! This was a lot of fun. I cannot remember ever wanting to do my homework to the extent that I did in this class!
  11. Without a doubt the best class I've taken here.??If you're a writer and you're at all serious about it (and even if you're not) you should definitely consider this course.??It's hard core in terms of the other students, but it's great.
