Evaluation Comments for Payne, T

  1. No Comment
  2. T-Payne is a genuinely nice guy, and especially as someone who knows very little and is shy about creative writing, I felt that he was very welcoming and open to beginners. He is chock-full of stories and hilarious anecdotes about his life, and it's just a pleasure to listen to him ramble for half the class. But he really cares about your development as a writer - but even more about you as a student and as a person. Maybe for someone more experienced in creative writing might find him unhelpful (as in the first comment) but I found him to be a great introduction to creative writing, and a fun guy to be around.
  3. T Payne just wants to buy you a drank........seriously though, Creative Writing w/ TPayne is not really a class for someone with a serious interest in creative writing. The classes themselves were extremely loose and unproductive, and there were some serious pedagogical flaws, like assigning a Chekhov short story in the same week we were assigned a slam poem. In my personal meeting at the end of the course (which he does with everyone) he ended up seeming significantly less oblivious than during the duration of the course, and actually gave me some insightful advice. However, try to take this class w/ Ganley or Mitchell or someone else if you can.
