  2. Professor Poulin-Deltour is a GREAT intro language professor! He does a great job of engaging his students and creates an environment in which even the timid will feel comfortable speaking. He is very entertaining and always keeps the class interesting with his jokes and games. This was the first french class I had ever taken and I think Poulin-Deltour is a big part of the reason I've come to love the language. If you can, take a class with him. He's great!
  3. Monsiur Poulin-Deltour is terrific- he constantly makes jokes, keeps the class from dragging, and likes to get to know his students. The workbook story is silly but keeps the class from becoming to dull, and you'll learn alot fast.
  4. Never take French with Poulin. He forgets that this is a beginning French class and veers into irrelevant subjects like politics and religion that only interest him. He also influences his own personal opinions about gay rights within his class. One time, he made us use same sex pronouns when talking about who we would want to marry in the future. I guess if you like laid back, its fine, but if you actually want to learn the French language, he does not take this class seriously enough. The other section learned at such a faster, more thorough rate. I know so many people who discontinued French because of a semester with Poulin.
  5. He isn't exactly a bad teacher, he just doesn't seem to teach you anything. I stopped taking notes midway through the semester because I had just given up. Quizzes were thus all over the place, but not bad if you taught yourself the material. Short papers were easy, but tedious. He is very interested in french politics, and his ranting was certainly the highlight of the course. Overall, this course couldn't end soon enough. Not exactly difficult, but certainly frustrating.
  6. You have to enjoy the homework because otherwise it's torturous to complete every day.
  7. William is a very enthusiastic and creative professor who will do anything to ensure that students understand introductory French material. He is very nice and understanding. Keep in mind, he is very interested in politics and incorporates them into the lessons! Also, much of the work for this class is self-directed (all of the workbook answers are available in the back), so if you aren't self-motivated you will not learn very much. The more excited about French you are, the better. If you don't love it, it will feel like lots of busywork but if you do it is a lot of fun.
