Evaluation Comments for Hill

  1. Professor Hill doesn't really DO email but you can call his home phone...office hours are also good; this guy knows a lot and he's a lot of fun. English majors have to take this class anyway; I had a really great experience with Hill and I bet you will, too. Don't be afraid to throw crazy experimental interpretations on the table; always fun.
  2. Prof. Hill's teaching style is very involving. It makes what has the potential to be a boring and difficult course interesting and understandable.
  3. This class was definitely challenging, but in the end you got a lot out of it. Professor Hill recognizes the difficulty of the reading (i.e. Milton's Paradise Lost), and plans accordingly. He's not the most available person (he doesn't believe in e-mail or answering machines), but he has regular office hours, which is good. The material is really dense, but I've never had an opportunity to go as in depth into texts as I did in this class.
  4. Hill is a very easy-going instructor who knows how to make a class comfortable to be in and bring up discussion. His style of teaching can take the first couple of weeks to get used to, because unlike many, he has specific guidelines that he expects the group discussion leaders to touch on, rather than spending the hour floating abotu with random inferences. Though surprising at first, it makes breaking down the difficult material easier, and after you get a handle on it, Hill more than welcomes the other epiphanies about the work that come with it.
