Evaluation Comments for Nunley, C.

  1. Can't say I found this to be the most interesting class, and Nunley is a bit of a tough grader. The recitations were so stupid, and the books that we read were generally alright but nothing amazing.

  4. This is a very difficult class, but Nunley is the MAN! He is incredibly dedicated to his students, and by far the most accessible, intelligent, and funny prof at Midd I've ever had.
  5. Definitely a better class than 0210, but still pretty boring. To me French literature is only so exciting. Nunley is definitely passionate about it though, which did help a bit in getting me into the stuff that we read. The homework in this class was reasonable, just 10 "written exercises" over the course of the semester. Having to memorize random poems was pretty annoying, but Nunley was really flexible about reciting them, so you always had the time that you needed. Papers were also reasonable. He'll make you do a re-write though if he's not happy with what you wrote.
  6. Prof. Nunley is...interesting. There's definitely very little class discussion or room for student ideas in this class, which seems great at first (especially if you didn't do the reading), but it gets very boring very quickly. When he corrects papers, he will ask you to rewrite parts if he doesn't like your interpretation, because his is of course better. He's friendly but very arrogant.
  7. Despite long reading assignments and papers, I really enjoyed this class. Nunley is a great professor and loves to talk - he'll fill any silences in case you don't read. He's very entertaining and really really helpful if you go see him about papers.
  8. the reading was a bit hard at times, and oftentimes long, however nunley made the class pretty interesting. i would recommend having nunley for this class, especially because he is so willing to help students outside of class.
  9. Good teacher and good class, but really hard... the homework is a ton (lots of reading and papers)
  10. I really enjoyed this class, it has inspired me to continue with French, when I thought nothing would interest me any longer. Professor Nunley is amazing and invested in each student and is really enthusiastic about the subject! It was an absolutely amazing course, and I'd recommend it to anyone considering the French Major.
  11. Like AP French Lit in high school, but WAY more reading. Honestly, it was the most reading I've ever had to do in French. Lectures were pretty good, had some discussion thrown in, and Nunley's a good prof. Not that hard if you are willing to put in the effort.
  12. I'd only recommend this if you're a pretty hardcore french student... I had trouble keeping up.
