Evaluation Comments for jewett

  1. Professor Jewett is always upbeat and ready to help. However, her labs were quite boring at times. The best day was when we got to play with liquid nitrogen!
  2. Kathy is the BEST.
  3. Professor Jewett was always willing to help, however, "helping" to Professor Jewett is really just telling you the answer, instead of explaining it to you in a way that makes sense. I found that even with prior prepartion, my classmates and I came in to labs mostly unprepared and were expected to just "go" without any real explanation. Quite often, we had no idea what we were doing.
  4. Kathy will always answer questions, so don't worry if you're totally clueless. Also, she can really help explain those confusing questions on the labs. She's also incredibly sweet, just a very approachable and nice person.
  5. Wow...labs are HARD and extremely time-consuming--but your efforts are certainly rewarded in her fair grading. After every lab, I'd sit down to write up the lab and literally stare at the pages for about 3 hours before anything clicked. It takes so long to figure out what the lab questions are asking and it's really difficult to apply your results to them. Lab period, however, is enjoyable and Kathy provides an extremely laid-back and friendly atmosphere so that you don't feel ashamed when you build up the courage to admit that you have no clue what's going on. She's always understanding and willing to help, making you feel smart even when you know you're doing everything wrong. She's a sweetheart and I'll miss her when I move onto CHEM104. I can't imagine a better lab professor!
  6. Dr. Jewett is awesome! Always ask when you have questions and you will do fine in lab, I have never heard of the lab portion of Chem 103 lowering someone's grade.
  7. Kathy Jewett is the nicest person ever! She should actually teach the course and lab. If you don't understand something she is always there to help explain. Kathy is the best lab professor ever. You will definetly enjoy her!
  8. kathy is the sweetest person I've ever met. Even if you don't understand anything, she's always willing to explain anything, multiple times if necessary.
  9. I loved having Kathy Jewett as a lab instructor. I thought she was really patient and good at explaining the material. She was really knowledgable about the labs and willing to answer as many questions as I had. I wish she had taught the Chemistry lectures as well as labs because I may have done better in the course if this were the case. If you are taking this course, I advise trying to complete the lab report before you even leave the laboratory because then you can get the work out of the way before next week and Kathy will still be willing to answer your questions and help you out.
  10. Kathy was my lab instructor and she's very good. Always friendly and more than willing to help. The labs were appropriate and helpful in enhancing my understanding of the lecture material.
  11. Kathy is the love of my life. I took chemisty because I had to as a pre-med major, and kathy made it tolerable.
  12. Kathy Jewett is the most approachable teacher I have had so far at Middlebury. She is SO helpful in explaining the labs, and will stay after class and work with you until you want to go home. She is one of the most patient teachers I have had so far. She made Chem I so much more fun!
