Evaluation Comments for Morsman, A.

  1. Absolutely best course at Midd ever. great lectures, great discussions, great readings, great films. Changed the way i think about america and feminism. everyone should take. participation stressed.
  2. Morsman is a great teacher--she is a little disorganized in terms of presenting material, but she is very engaging and keeps the class atmosphere very positive and enjoyable.
  3. Definitely keep up with the reading; it will come in handy when you have to write the papers.
  4. Amy Morsman is great; very interesting, funny, open, and approachable. A lot of reading - most of which is good - and participation is very important. The essays were really interesting to research. If this area interests you, then I definitely recommend it - Amy manages to make even dull areas of women's history really interesting.
  5. Content: this stuff is really interesting, particularly because there's so much covered that's not in other American History courses you might take. I will say, though, that I thought her approach was a little jumpy -- the particular periods and incidents we covered were fascinating, but she could have connected them better. Lectures: energetic, sometimes a little disorganized, but good. Readings: very interesting. And necessary! Don't get too far behind, because she expects you to synthesize material really well in your papers. Assignments: my sense is that she goes back and forth between mostly papers and all papers. Grading: pretty fair...but maybe too fair (aka a little low). If you work hard though you'll do well. Outside of class: Morsman is fairly approachable, but if you annoy her (which I did by accident...) she's less interested in being accomodating. Class vibe: people who take this class tend to enjoy it, so the atmosphere is great. Overall: if you're at all interested, you should definitely take this course. Even though I'm terrible in History, this class made me almost consider an American History minor. 4 out of 5.
