  2. this is a very interesting class, especially for those of you interested in Spain or possibly studying abroad there. the teacher is great and so are class discussions. no grammar is covered, however, so be prepared to write gramatically correct essays and responses. fun and informative overall.
  3. Juana is an amazing woman and teacher. She is funny, incredibly smart, and nice. The class has minimal work, and it is easy to do well. Some lectures are somewhat boring, but Juana really likes to involve the students. While this was intimidating at first, it really improved my Spanish. Take this class.
  4. Juana is awesome. This is a really easy class, although I'm not sure how much I learned. We had a weekly essay which really helped my writing in Spanish. Class was pretty boring and you don't miss much if you don't go. Juana is an amazing person though and I'm happy to have gotten to know her!
  5. Juana is fantastic-- friendly, enthusiastic, and fun. A good teacher, although the material isnt thrilling. The class discussions were very casual, and there was very little homework. Overall a good way to practice your conversational spanish with a great woman (juana), but not very interesting material.
  6. Juana is great. Always talkative and encouraging, very genuine personality. The work was not overwhelming at all, enough to keep you on your toes during the week, but never enough to bog you down. I agree with the other comments about grammar. She grades more on grammar than on content, but it improves your writing immensely. I would definitely take another class with her, she is awesome. This is the perfect class to keep up with Spanish but without a lot of pointless work.
  7. Juana is fantastic! She's enthusiastic, friendly, yet also demanding. If you get a chance to take ANY class with her, do it. She made the material interesting and relevant to students' lives. I really liked the discussion- and participation-oriented style of the class. That said, I found this class easier than I'd anticipated. I expected more challenging and in-depth work from the 300 level. That might be a symptom of the Spanish department in general. On a more positive note, since there is no fear of being overwhelmed, that's all the more reason to go ahead and take this class with Juana.
  8. juana is really great, friendly, helpful, engaging, etc. recommended for anyone interested in gaining some very general background information about spain. not terribly enlightenening but good class discussions and not too difficult overall.
  9. i think that anyone going to spain has to take this course. the history was pretty valuable becaue i wouldn't have known anything about Spain if I hadn't taken it. the discussion sections were awesome because they dealt with life in Spain today. and disc was really fun and we watched a few good movies (and a few not-so-good ones). the exams were pretty chill too. not such a hard class, just focus on your grammar on essays -- it's not really graded on content, at least with this professora
