Evaluation Comments for Nicoletta Marini-Maio

  1. As much as I liked this professor she is very tough and wants to send you a tutor the moment you get your first B. She is from Italy, and often talks very fast because Italian is her first language. A lot of us sat there confused, I think. But she is very kind and very fun. I won't be continuing Italian, however.
  2. The Italian Department at Middlebury is amazing so no matter what class you take, your experience will be awesome. My Italian class was taught by a new professor who was considered to be the weak link of the Italian Dept. However, as soon as she understood the methods at Middlebury, the class was very good. Marini Maio is very lively and dramatic and the class was fun even at 8 am everyday. She is very very critical of your abilities however and will often send students who are just doing average to the tutor. However, when compared to the other students in other classes, our speaking and writing abilities were much more proficient from her strict style. Take her class if you want to know Italian
  3. Professoressa Marini-Maio is ALWAYS available for help and responds to e-mails almost immediately every time. She is beyond knowledgeable in her field and loves her job. what else do you want in a professor? Take the class, she's amazing. I don't know what these other two maniacs are talking about with her being strict... it's possible to not do your homework at all and get by in class (albeit not very well).
