  1. Loved Professor Billings. Very helpful. Readings were hard & long. 2 manageable papers.
  2. Professor Billings is the best professor I have had at Middlebury. He is incredibly brilliant and does an amazing job illuminating the material, which is often challenging and sometimes dry. This class should be a required course for every student at Middlebury, and every human being in the world for the deeply important political truths it reveals. My favorite class ever; life-changing, powerful, and engaging.

  4. This is hands down the best course offered at Middlebury. Billings starts lecturing and 75 minutes later he stops having never paused to think or rephrase. He doesn't stumble over words, he doesn't spitball and he manages to explain very complex ideas in a manner that is consummately comprehendible while still maintaining a high level of sophistication. Every second of his lecture is interesting, and I say that as someone who does not generally enjoy being in class. The content of this course is really the fundamental essence of what one can get out of a liberal arts education. Everyone really should be required to take this course.
  5. No one takes this class because they want to; they have to. But if you have to take it, Billings is a great prof. The first few weeks are the hardest. He makes you do weekly response papers, but they help in making you get through the reading.
