Evaluation Comments for Whiteman, S.

  1. No Comment
  2. Whitman is super disorganized, and yet holds everyone to a high standard which he himself can not live up to. He is very intelligent; however, his lectures consist of him mumbling and rambling on about unrelated topics. He often talks about how he doesnt know what he is talking about.
  3. He doesn't give you the study set early enough for you to actually learn the 65 slides. He doesn't give enough direction on how to formulate your paper if you've never taken an art history class. He doesn;t have notes on his slides so God help you if you fall sick on one of his lecture days. There is no structure to this course!
  4. Don't do it. Get your AAL some other way, and if you're an art history major get your non-european course from another professor. Whiteman is terrible. He is very disorganized, but still expects his students be organized. There is tons of memorization, but it all has to be last minute because he doesn't give out study sheets until a few days before the exam. Whiteman is a really nice guy, and he is approachable. He's just not a good professor.
