  4. You will hardly find this class to be a delightful experience, but professor Gonzalez-Zenteno is a really intelligent woman and very helpful. I didn't find the readings to be particularly challenging, but actually achieving high grades took a lot of effort. If you have to take this class, then taking it with Gloria could be a good choice.
  5. As someone already mentioned, this class is really dull if you already took AP Spanish Lit. Moreover, while I thoroughly enjoyed the AP course in high school, the discussions (if they can even be called that) in this class pale in comparison. Gonzalez very adamantly rejects a lot of people's interpretations of poems and stories, even when they seem quite valid in my opinion. Gonzalez also grades pretty hard, and that can be incredibly discouraging for students who do not receive any explanation for the points they seem to lose arbitrarily. Still, the readings are great, and the course definitely helped me practice and improve my Spanish communication skills.
  6. This was a really boring useless class. Gloria is very nice but did little to engage anyone. If you do the readings you?ll be bored because no one else participates, if you don?t do them you can easily have nap time
  7. The class overall was nice, and the teacher was great at explaining concepts and new material.
  8. The material presented in this class was extremely interesting. I feel that my Spanish has greatly improved. The only problem with this class is that it has a ton of work.
  9. Gloria is a really nice lady and I can't really hold much against her. Unfortunately, SPAN 300 happens to be a pretty boring course, especially if you took AP Spanish Lit in high school--the two are virtually identical courses. I think a lot probably depends on the students in your class as well, I happened to have a particularly boring group of students that seemed uninterested and unmotivated so it made each class that much more painful. Gloria tries her best and does a pretty decent job, but she tends to grade a little to hard and effectively discourages her students for that reason. This class could use some refining and maybe then it would be more worthwhile.
  10. Honestly, this class was pretty painful (but I've heard that most 300 spanish classes are). I found the readings incredibly difficult and not very interesting. This is a HUGE jump from spanish 220. The only good part of this class is Gloria. SHe is truly an amazing teacher, and ALWAYS available to help no matter what. WHile this class was very difficult, my writing improved incredibly. Its a helpful class but be prepared for a lot of work.
  11. Very hard class! Gonzalez-Zenteno, however, makes it absolutely worthwhile. Not only did my spanish improve, my english literary analysis did too.
