Evaluation Comments for Proctor, E.

  1. No Comment
  2. Having a passion for math and physics, I thought I would be able to handle this material pretty well. However, I felt that many of the key concepts of the course were not explained clearly in the beginning and this caused me to sink deeper and deeper into confusion/misunderstanding of the key ideas. I had a A- in the course after the first midterm + first 3 psets, B- as my final grade. Without a doubt the most disappointing course for me so far.
  3. If you have to take this course (or really want to take it just for fun), I recommend that you take it with a professor other than Emily. She's a really nice person and she's completely willing to help you outside of class, but she ran through the material so quickly that many of us were confused after lessons. She's more helpful in one-on-one sessions, but it's hard to do well in her class without going to her office hours at least once a week.
  4. Fun class! Emily is a very nice person. She cares about whether we understand the materials. But she speaks very fast (that sometimes makes it difficult to follow). Watch out for exams, especially the final, they can be tricky though.
  5. She skipped over important foundation material really quickly and then seemed surprised when people were confused and lost. The material itself could have been interesting, but the way she presented it made it extremely difficult to follow and a lot more work than it needed to be.
