  2. I would certainly recommend this class to a friend, but with a cautionary attitude. This was one of the most challenging courses I've ever taken at Midd not only because of the sheer volume of work--a 50-60 page chapter is expected of you to have been read by class time each meeting-- but also because of the quality of the assignments that students must complete. The final paper--a research paper on Edouard Manet--takes a great deal of time and effort. Students really must be serious about HARC to want to take and succeed in this class. It was, however, a tremendously rewarding experience.
