Evaluation Comments for Spackman J

  1. The nicest (and nerdiest) professor whom I've ever met. He gives detailed feedback on papers and he seems readily available to meet outside of class. He creates a great environment for class discussions.
  2. Spackman does a wonderful job facilitating discussion in class. Very approachable and available. The class material, however, is terribly boring (with the exception of a few interesting essays).
  3. Professor Spackman is a nice guy, but he's a very slow grader and has a very fixed schedule. He's hard to meet with outside of class if you're not free during his office hours. This class was also very frustrating because he has very specific ideas about language, and he leaves little room for disagreement in the required papers. If you like the study of language, you probably won't like this class, and you won't get much from it.
