  2. Love Tropp, though it was a bit difficult to sit through a three hour discussion every Thursday afternoon about some very dry reading material. Tropp expects a lot in terms of reading, and if you aren't an African Studies Major, you may find it irrelevant. 4 short papers and one long book review at the end, not too bad, though he is a tough grader on papers. I would consider a different class with Tropp before you jump into the seminar.
