Evaluation Comments for Barbaud-McWilliams, M.

  1. It's not the edgiest class but it's helpful if you want to continue with French. Prof. McWilliams is a great person to take this with because she's extremely warm, genuinely interested in the material, and not a terribly hard grader.
  2. McWilliams is seriously one of Middlebury's gems. She really brings the literature to life with her energy and takes the time to actually explain whole artistic movements (including film and paintings) when contextualizing the literature. Overall, a wonderful experience I would recommend to anyone. P.S. Fabulous fashion sense.
  3. Great class! Mcwilliams is really enthusiastic which makes the class fun even if some of the books are incredibly weird. It helps to have some background and understanding of European History although it's not essential because she does explain some of it. It's nice how she puts the books into perspective. You understand the place of Surrealism and Modernism in relation to history. It's similar to an AP French Literature class, but the books don't overlap very much so the class is still worth taking.
