  2. Pete Ryan is an excellent professor--he's funny, makes the material interesting and is VERY chill. A few semesters ago, if you asked me if I would take a class called Surface & Groundwater, I would have said that sounds like the lamest thing ever. But I really liked Pete from another class and knew he would make it worthwhile. It's really cool to learn about how water shapes and moves through our planet. Labs are really relaxed and fun too. Lab write-ups aren't very hard, but the problem sets can be a bit tricky (but Pete's very available to help!). There's a lot of math involved in this course, but it's all algebraic equations. I wouldn't recommend buying the textbook-it's super expensive and the readings are necessary in order to understand what's going on. I did well in the class and never did the textbook readings. And it's on reserve in the library.
  3. Course is awesome. Not a ton of work although the workload definitely increases as the semester goes on. Pete is AWESOME. Too bad we didn't get to do the canoe trip lab or the bbq lab. Definitely learned a lot without a killer workload
