Evaluation Comments for Asiedu F

  1. Asiedu has a great personality and manages to bring humor to this intro. religion class; however, his lesson organization is very scattered and his lectures can feel monotonous. There is also a lot of reading: 8 books.
  2. Do NOT take this class if you are expecting an "into" level. I took this as a first semester freshman and was completely overwhelmed. Asiedu knows his stuff and is a nice guy, but I imagine that he is much better suited to teach a 300 level class on Christianity. It was the hardest and one of the most boring classes I have taken, and I am a senior.
  3. Asiedu is a friendly guy, but his lectures are extremely disorganized. This forces you to keep up with the ridiculous amounts of reading to fill in the multiple holes in your notes. Exams take a lot of preparation because they often concern subjects that are not covered in class (but are in the reading). The first ID exam covered 80 IDs and most of them were completely unneccessary and were not covered in class. This might be a good class with someone else, but take it with someone other than professor Asiedu.
  4. Don't be fooled by his jovial demeanor- Asiedu is very smart and very serious about his classes. Try not to be late and turn your assignments in on time and you'll be fine.
  5. I agree. Professor Asiedu is a great man and he definitely knows his material, but his lectures are some of the most boring hours that I have spent "awake" in my life. His exams definitely make you prepare yourself and help you learn the material. I liked the structure of his exams, but unless all the reading had been completed beforehand (which is near impossible) it creates for a lot of last-minute crash coursing. All in all though, I got a lot out of the class.
