What did you study at Middlebury and what have you done since you left?
I was an English major at Middlebury with a minor in Psychology. I did not want to go right into working and instead accepted a position as a teaching intern in Munich, Germany. While there I was able to do a lot of traveling and enjoy myself while still earning a living. After Germany it was onto New York where I found my calling in P.R. I was first at LaForce and Stevens working on events, H&M, ELLE magazine and The Container Store. I have since moved over to the Strategic Group where I work on PR initiatives for Lacoste, Godiva, Coke and special events.

What did you learn at Middlebury that impacted your professional experience the most?
Middlebury was a place where we were taught to think critically but creatively. This has translated into my P.R. career, where we are encouraged to think outside of the box while also thinking judiciously about the client.

If you were to offer a few words of wisdom to a Middlebury student aspiring to enter marketing research, what would they be?
It would be to begin EARLY in your Middlebury career using the career services office. I began after freshman year and it was integral in my professional advancement. Also, NETWORK because every opportunity I have had has come from my knowing someone rather than something.
