Evaluation Comments for Keathley, C.

  1. Keathley is great. The class atmosphere was really relaxed and discussion based making it totally stress free. He started the semester by doing reading quizzes frequently but those stopped 3 or 4 weeks in. The books that you read won't be typical LIT books and are a great change of pace from those that you might analyze elsewhere. I came into this class with no prior experience with studying film and did fine so if you are thinking about taking it I 100% recommend it.
  2. Take this class! Or any class with Christian Keathley, he is the best. He cares so so much about A) the material and B) the students, and it shows! He is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and always very helpful and encouraging. The workload for this class is a sizable but not unmanageable amount of reading both literary and critical texts, plus three papers that we could choose our own topics for. Keathley wants you to use these as opportunities to go in the direction that interests you the most, so take advantage of it. Class participation is a must as well, but the atmosphere in my class was so friendly, fun, and intellectually engaging that this was never a problem. Lastly, the movies and books ont he syllabus were generally really great, a few lackluster ones in there, but you can't win em all. It's just a fantastic course and so much fun, take it take it take it!
