  1. Vickie is a very kind and available woman. She is understanding and will give you any help that you need. That being said, she is absolutely horrible at teaching in this lab. You would expect an incredibly hard grader to have a matched rigidity in their teaching style, but no. Despite Vickie's scrutinizing marks, the amount of guidance given to students in this lab might as well be zero. You will be given incredibly vague, disjointed, unclear assignments in which the expectations are NOT explained, nor are they EVER explained. This lab was a massive disappointment. Time in lab is often spent meticulously going over the lab you are about to perform, simply to fill space since the three hour allotment is far more time than necessary. Then, upon completing the actual labs, you will be asked to produce a post lab with absolutely no idea of what to do and what not to do. Honestly, the amount of emphasis placed on formatting and the minutiae of lab reports was shocking and unnecessary. Where there could have been growth and learning in terms of actual, real science, there were massive amounts of docked points for things like spacing, margins, nonsensical excel exercises, and the mysterious set of things Vickie looks for in labs which she certainly will not tell you about. If you can avoid taking this lab, then do it. Overall, I feel that I have learned nothing from this lab and that it has caused me more frustration and lack of sleep than actual, worthwhile material. Do not take this lab. If you're required to take this lab, then my prayers and thoughts are with you.
