Evaluation Comments for Wolfson R

  1. This class may be my favorite of my Middlebury career. That said my interests lie in Engineering, so designing and building my own circuits was paticularly satisfying. Anyone who has had class with Wolfson can tell you how incredible he is in the classroom - His energy is unrivaled by any other professor I've encoutered. Moreover nothing excites him more than seeing and helping his students make progress. The class size is limited by the number of lab stations, so register early. As far as Physics courses go, it was fairly easy, not much harder than an intro class. I waked out of the class with a much clearer understanding of how nearly every peice of electronic equipment I use works. We obviously don't get into really nitty gritty stuff, like the full operation of your computer. However, we build our own flip-flops (the building blocks of digital electronics), get into fairly sophisticated analog circuits, make a working digital display and counter and we ended with an analog to digital converter. I strongly recommend this course to anyone, but paticuraly to Physics and Compuer science majors. I can guarantee that you will enjoy it immensely and it will significantly contribute to your understanding of your subject of choice.
