Evaluation Comments for Elder J

  1. Prof. Elder is amazing - catch him while you can! This class was everything I could have hoped for.
  2. Too bad Elder is retiring, because everyone should take this class. He has a wonderful, moving style of lecturing that brings the readings to life. The other component of this class was a long-running group project in which we prepared a multimedia presentation about a farm in the area. Working with the owner of a local farmstand was a lot of fun, and the group work was truly fulfilling. This is coming from someone who usually finds group work in college frustrating and inhibiting, but letting a productive group dynamic evolve over the course of a whole semester made it much more enjoyable. I will remember this class for many years.
  3. Everyone should take this class with Elder. He is a joy. One of the most caring, open, engaging lecturers and facilitators of discussion I've met at Midd. The material was pretty diverse, too, which kept me interested from start to finish.
