  3. This class is far too much work for a 103, but I learned a lot because of it. If you have a heavy course load already, I would stay away. But if you want to work really hard and excel, this could be for you. Gloria definitely gives too much homework, and some of it seems pointless -- but some really helped. It definitely depends on what you're looking for.
  4. The class is not bad in itself but I think that Gloria is inhumane. The amount of work she gives you crosses the borders of insanity. I think she assumes that students are taking only one class per semester and the class that they are doing with her is the one. She will keep you busy for three hours a day on average. If you end of in a small class just like I did, my condolences are with you. There will not be a single class you can slack off for. She was not at all understanding the amademic pressure Middlebury puts on a student from all the courses. This class could definitely be a lot of fun and more importantly you will learn so much that you cant imagine learning as much with some other professor. But be prepared, you are bound to be slayed for the semester. The professor completely lacks the understanding that it is a beginners level class and students are not expected to work as much as she asks for. I promise you, you take this class, you will love how much you learn and further your knowledge in Spanish at a 100 level, but it could possibly mean no sleep/fun for you for the whole semester. Good Luck! The choice is yours, decide wisely.
  5. Be prepared for 2 hrs a day of work. The hard work does pay off, because Gloria is a passionate, excellent professor! Exams are every week, however no quizzes. Discussion is most of class. Course consists of wrapping up the textbook, reading a novel, studying Chile, a few minidramas, and a final presentation.
