  2. Prof Mecham was great. The lectures were very informative and well structured and the professor allowed for an appropriate level of discussion during lecture as well. Mecham is clearly very intelligent and gives very interesting lectures, especially when addressing topics related to his specialties, Middle East and Africa.
  3. Professor Mecham is hilarious and always keeps the class interesting. He is very nice and approachable and it's clear he's kind of a genius. If you're going to take this class, take it with Mecham!
  4. Class was very interesting and engaging. Mecham is an excellent lecturer and class was enjoyable. A little bit of a harder grader, but a very good intro polisci class!
  5. Professor Mecham is great. For a broad intro class he kept lectures and discussions interesting. There are 12 weekly webposts, two essays, a midterm and a final. Additionally, participation in discussions and the government simulation is expected. Overall I can't imagine taking this class with another professor.
  6. Professor Mecham is AMAZING! If you need to take comparative, or just want to know more about poly sci, this is the class for you. Professor is incredibly nice and approachable. He has definitely been one of my favorite professors here at Midd. It would be really easy for this class to be boring, but Professor Mecham makes the material interesting and manageable. There are weekly banner postings responding to the readings, 2 short response papers, a midterm and a final. If you do the readings and pay attention in class, you'll have no trouble with any of them.
  7. You will love Quinn-- but be warned: he's pretty picky about exam answers. Make sure you do the reading.
  8. Professor Mecham is great. He's friendly, extremely intelligent, and very good at facilitating discussion and creating an unintimidating environment. Work load consists of weekly postings, two response papers, and two exams.
  9. This professor is abosolutely wonderful. Take this class. You will enjoy every minute of discussions and class time.
  10. Great course, great professor. I recommend participating in the Second Life simulation even if it seems kinda dopey. It's fun, gets you a great participation grade, and can actually be applicable to the course material.
  11. Amazing class. Extremely interesting material. Mecham is very knowledgeable about the subject, and makes the concepts easy and fun to learn by showing random videos and cracking jokes in class.
  12. Mecham's awesome. But seriously, take this class. You won't regret it. Mecham keeps the class involved and actually talks through the concepts and readings thoroughly and loves to have fun on the side. Our hour and 15 class went 10 minutes over every class, but honestly, no one cared because we loved the class. Take classes with QM especially if your interested in the Middle East or if you enjoy having a good time in class. Material's interesting too.
  13. Prof. Mecham is great. His lectures summarize the readings beautifully so if you go to class and take good notes, you can successfully prepare for the tests using your notes alone. Tests are tough but doing all the reading is not necessary if you take good notes.
  14. Mecham is an unbelievable, engaging and excited professor. It was a perfect introduction to politics. I took the class because I wanted to gain some basic understanding and the material lived up to my expectations. Definitely didn't do all the reading - so much - because he summarized it in lectures. however, when I DID read, it was definitely beneficial in class. 2 short response papers, a tough midterm and a VERY tough final. Really, one of the best teachers I have ever had.
  15. This prof rocks my socks - you should take this class with him, because he makes you laugh. Great sense of humour!!!
