  2. This course was extremely difficult and time consuming, but as a result, I learned how to be a better student. Stearns is a demanding professor, but he is also friendly, and has a good sense of humor. He doesn't condemn you when you ask simple questions and he is extremely knowledgeable. That said, he also isn't afraid to admit ignorance on the rare chance he doesn't know the answer. He challenged me to work harder than I ever have in any class. Don't take this class if you want an easy A; take it if you want a challenge. The material presented was very interesting, but the tests were intimidating.
