Evaluation Comments for Bleich

  1. There is a lot of reading and writing, and it is overall a lot of work. But, if you are willing to do the work this course is incredibly valuable. The majority of the reading is really interesting, and there's a lot of room in your own writing, as well as in discussions, to discuss what fascinates you the most. Erik Bleich is also a great professor. At times he is funny, but mostly he is extremely informative and knowledgable, and fairly humble about his knowledge and experience of ethnicity and race. He also creates a friendly environment in discussions, and encourages everyone to speak at least once, so that no one's opinion is overlooked.

  4. This course is GREAT. It is definitely a lot of work, and Prof. Bleich is tough, but he forces you to improve your writing and challenges your critical thinking skills. The class was small and had a great atmosphere. Discussions were incredibly interesting and the material is fascinating. Bleich is incredibly knowledgeable in this field and clearly passionate. I would recommend this class to anyone interested in race/ethnicity and willing to work hard.
