  4. My favorite class so far at Middlebury. Weekly reading response papers don't take that long once you get the hang of them, and they really help you to understand and remember information. Bleich's lectures are engaging and at times funny. The discussion questions he poses to the class are extremely thought-provoking and stimulated far more interesting discussion in a 30 person class than I have ever had in a so-called "discussion section" with a small group of people all sitting around in a circle. Bottom line: Great course.
  5. Sounds so much cooler than it is. Very dull lectures. The readings at times present ridiculously self-evident concepts as political theory breakthroughs. Lots of reading. don't do all of it. There is one group project that is utterly useless and takes up a lot of time. Bleich is a nice guy, but this class was a chore
  6. Professor Bleich is one of the smartest guys around. I have seen a fair bit of criticism in some of his courses, but I completely disagree with most of the things people say about him. He is extremely knowledgeable, nice, and easy going enough to not intimidate people with his sometimes almost overwhelming abundance of information. Grades were fair, but don't expect to get by with a B+ unless you do a lot of the reading and study intensely for tests. Overall a great course and worth taking if European history/ politics interests you.
  7. Professor Bleich is a great professor who knows tons about Europe. The class is extremely informative and has a great reading list. Bleich can be moody at times, but the course is definitely manageable and interesting.
  8. Professor Bleich is extremely knowledgeable on the subject he teaches. Class is very informative, interesting, and enlightening; it is definitely something you do not want to skip. Although there is usually a fair amount of reading for homework, you can manage your time wisely and it really isn't that bad. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in politics.
  9. If you're interested in Europe take it!
